It was a hot day in June, and all of us were bored, even Jenny who wasn't dazed in the slightest when the Wi-Fi cut out for almost six days. Alexi and Milly were bickering. That's what they did back then when they were dating. I didn't listen to them, I just lay there, entwining daisies by the stem. Jenny wanted to go for cocktails at a new bar that had just opened, tucked away behind the church on the Street. Alexi said he was broke and just wanted to swim. Milly wanted to hire a punt out for the afternoon. Liz wanted to head down to the river and try out the new trend of zorbing that she'd seen all over Instagram. I couldn't care less about what we did, as long as it was something. I felt sick from the heat, and their squabbling was pinching the sides of my forehead. In twenty-two days university would be over. I'd have to move back in with my Aunt Nelly and her husband, and finally find a job. It was childish, but the thought of it brought the taste of last night's dinner into the back of my throat. I looked over at my friends, lazing about. I closed my eyes and sucked in the humidity.
